First Discovery Session

We had a great First Discovery session this past Sunday! We had a small group, but I know there were some great conversations with the parents taking part in the sessions, and the kids had a great time learning about the Gospel message, playing games, singing songs, and making bracelets to represent the Gospel message. It is a great way to grow spiritually as a family at the same time, yet at levels according to our stage in life. I am sure our the families attending had some great conversations sharing their experiences after the session!

Our next session will be Feb 8th after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Once again, we will have lots of coffee , tea, juice, and snacks for everyone who comes out. Please send me a quick email if you plan on attending so we know how many to prepare for (in other words, so we know how much coffee to make, so if you are coming and want coffee, it is in your best interest to let us know you will be there!).

Here are a couple of photos of the bracelets the kids made representing the Gospel message. We have lots of beads left, so we are hoping to incorporate it into a future session for those who missed it the first time. Each colour represents a message from the Gospel so it would be a great keepsake for all the kids to take the Gospel message with them everywhere they go!

Have a great week!

*Don't forget we also have our quick meeting after the February 1st 10:30 am Mass with some info about the upcoming Reconciliation service on February 12th. I promise it will be very short and you will have plenty of time to prepare for the superbowl party.

Discovery Program

Good morning!

I just sent out an email with more information about the Discovery program that I posted about earlier in the week.

If you have not received the email, it might mean that you have not officially registered online. Even if you wrote your name on the list after the parent meeting in the fall, you still need to register online! If you only provided me with your name or your child's name on the meeting night, then I still have no way of contacting you or sending you important updates. When you register online, you fill in your contact information, and then I can add you to our list. So, please register online ASAP if you have not signed up already.

If you have not received the email, I will copy and paste it below so you can also have the information. Have a great weekend!

If you have been checking the blog regularly, you will have read about the Discovery program starting next Sunday, January 18th after the 10:30 am Mass (about an hour). The program is for parents, but we will also be organizing some activities for the kids at the same time so both parents and children can be working on their own faith journey at the same time. The first session is January 18th, and I will confirm the dates of the other sessions very soon. Each session is a progression from the last one, so if you are able to make them all, that would be wonderful, but if you have a busy schedule, you can still join us for the dates you are able to make it.

Here is a short description from Angele, a volunteer from our parish, who will be running the program:

Discovery is a faith study program developed by Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO). Discovery teaches about the core message of the Christian faith, it teaches about the Person of Jesus Christ.  This is a clear and simple way to learn about Catholocism and in turn teach your children as well. This program will condense the six week study into five lessons and touch on the following subjects: God's love, sin, Jesus as our saviour, our freedom to invite Christ into our lives, and how to live out the Christian faith.  Regardless of where you are at in your faith, Discovery can change your life.  The message of Discovery is the message of the Gospel: it is simple enough for a child to understand, yet profound enough to study for an entire lifetime.

I took the program myself a few years ago and had a wonderful and enriching experience. I definitely encourage you to consider joining us over the next few months, as Angele stated, no matter where you are in your faith life. The program is not a lesson, or a lecture, but a true personal discovery, aimed at helping us grow in our faith form wherever we are right now.

If you are interested in attending, please send me an email, or let me know after Mass, so that we can get an idea of numbers. Please also feel free to email me with questions and if I cannot answer them, I will forward them to Angele.

NEW Discovery Program will begin in January!

Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed a lovely Christmas holiday and the first few days back to the regular schedule.

I am very excited to let you know that we will be adding a new program to our Sacramental preparation year starting (hopefully) the third Sunday of January (January 18th). We will be hosting the 'Discovery' program created by CCO (Catholic Christian Outreach) intended for the parents of all children celebrating Sacraments this year. This is a 6-week program run by a member of our parish and will take place after 10:30 am Mass throughout the winter. We will let you know the exact schedule as soon as it is finalized. It is a wonderful way for parents to re-discover their faith and share their faith with other parents in the community. More details will be sent to you very soon, but in the meantime, I urge you to consider attending this great opportunity. We will also have separate activities for your children while you are taking part in Discovery, so both parents and children can benefit from this new endeavor in our parish.

As always, let me know if you have any questions and STAY TUNED for more details!
